To truly change a young persons life, you must be willing to share your life with them. It is the power of your presence that will ultimately impact their life.

YMI is a community funded and community fueled organization. Our desire is to build our donor base as we  continue to grow and provide more school-based mentor programs to Hamilton Southeastern Schools.

The Fishers Fire Chief, Steve Orusa will be opening up our breakfast with his own story of sharing his life with his mentee at Fishers High School. Our new impact video will be shown of two mentors and mentees plus Fishers High School Dean, Rob Seymour as they all share about the impact of the mentor program has had in their lives or their campus. Crystal Thorpe, the Principal of Fishers Junior High will be sharing a testimonial of the impact of the mentor program on her campus for the last two years.

Being present in the life of someone younger than you can have such a profound impact.YMI is recruiting business professionals in the Carmel, Fishers, and Noblesville areas to mentor in one of our school-based mentor programs. Excerpt from article - Without the mentoring of my high school coach, I (Bill) would have never been able to achieve the success i did. I was cut from the junior varsity basketball team. The varsity coach took me to the Boys and Girls Club, paid the $2 membership and told me if I practice every day he would put me on the varsity team. His belief in me made me realize I had the potential to be successful. We went on to win three straight state championships.

A one hour presentation outlining the vision, mission, and values of YMI; the Five Characteristics of a Mentor; YMI’s philosophy and approach to mentoring; and the opportunities to mentor in our local schools. There will be time for Q&A at the end. Register below.

 

The next informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 4th, 2012 from 6:30-7:30pm.

We will be meeting in the lower training room of Fire Station 91, Downtown Fishers. Parking is available on the north side of the building.

Thank you to everyone for going to Hearthstone through the month of July. We will post how much we made here soon.

 

During the month of July, Hearthstone will be highlighting the good work that YMI is doing in the community. YMI will receive 10 cents from every beverage purchased throughout the entire month.

Have a meeting? Grabbing coffee with a friend? Need a place to read a book? YMI will benefit from your patronage of Hearthstone, so come out and show your support!

In addition, all YMI board and staff meetings will be held at Hearthstone through the month of July. We will also be shooting two new mentor/mentee videos.

We will be kicking this off on Wednesday, June 27th between 6 and 10pm. Please join us and meet the YMI staff and board. 10% of the everything purchased that evening will go to YMI.
